Hello everyone, my name is Amanda. I am here to help my brother-in-law get back to himself again so he can be the husband and daddy he was before.
Let’s come together and support Edgar as he fights to regain his strength and independence. His physical therapy has been making a real difference, giving him hope and steady progress—but sadly, his insurance coverage has run out, leaving a critical gap in his care. Edgar still has a long road ahead, and continued therapy is essential for his recovery. With your help, we can make sure he doesn’t lose the momentum he’s worked so hard to build. Any contribution, big or small, brings him one step closer to healing. Thank you for supporting with Edgar and his family during this challenging time.
Edgar’s journey:
February 17th 2025 Edgar had a stroke. Doctors said we had to say our goodbyes. If anyone knows this man they know Edgar Monico is a fighter and he doesn’t like it when people tell him he can’t do things. He LOVES to prove people wrong and that he did. He was able to get off the ventilator weeks after his stroke. March 21st he was transferred to Ellison John Transitional Care Center where he got the best physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. He was also able to get his trache removed. August 15th He went back to the hospital because he had an infection in his wound. Had a procedure done to remove all the infection. He had difficulties waking up from the anesthesia. He aspirated because a nurse failed to tend to him when he needed suctioning. He was given CPR for approximately 20 minutes. Intubated and extubated 3-4 times. Came home September 19th. Edgar’s had physical and occupational therapy through in home care but it wasn’t enough for him. Insurance isn’t covering him and through primary care it’s once or twice a month.
Y’all my best friend Martha is a Superwoman! with Gods Grace and Glory she has been able to hold up her household alone. Raising 2 kids still in school and 3 dogs. Managing to learn all the skills a RN nurse does for a living to keep her husband alive and well. How she does it is beyond me. Due to his stroke he is bed bound with a feeding tube. His left side of his body is paralyzed but can get better with therapy. His speech is very limited, mostly spells out words.
I Pray we can all come together to support Edgar and his family thank you
