Help Preserve the Music of Steve DuRose!
One year after the passing of beloved songwriter Steve DuRose, we’re raising funds to record, mix, master, and release an album of his unreleased songs—a lasting tribute to his remarkable voice, wit, and spirit.
Steve’s music lives on through the people and places he touched—especially here in Flat Rock, North Carolina, where his songs continue to inspire. This project will bring his unreleased work Daffodil to life along with recordings of Steve's songs by some of the friends who played with him along the way! The goal is that his songs get heard.
Funds raised will go directly toward studio recording, professional mixing and mastering, album artwork, and digital distribution, so that Steve’s songs can be shared with the world.
To honor his legacy, we’ll also celebrate his life and music during “Knockin’ on Sandburg’s Door: The Day Bob Dylan Drove to Flat Rock,” a live performance by local artist and educator Josh Dunkin on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Flat Rock Cinema. A second show will take place on April 23rd, 2026. Tickets can be purchased at www.flatrockcinema.com.
The show weaves together the songs, poetry, and stories of Carl Sandburg, Bob Dylan, and Steve DuRose—three American bards connected by the small town of Flat Rock.
Your support helps keep Steve’s voice alive—through the songs he left behind, and the stories that continue to echo in our community.
Let’s make sure the world hears Steve’s music—just the way he intended.
