Hello and thank you for taking a moment to support a cornerstone of the Portland, OR biking community, James Emond, the heart and soul behind The Missing Link Bike Shop in the Woodstock neighborhood of Portland, OR. James isn't just a shop owner; he's a mentor, a friend, and an irreplaceable part of our cycling lives.
The Challenge
A few weeks ago, James faced unexpected health challenges—trouble with balance and strength, accompanied by weakness in his hands and arms. A swift medical consultation led to an MRI, revealing degeneration in the cervical and lumbar spine which has caused interference of his spinal cord. The good news is his brain is unaffected, but he urgently requires major surgery on his spine, which will leave him unable to use his hands and arms for a period of 4 weeks or more, and consequently, unable to run his beloved bike shop.
James's commitment to cycling goes beyond the shop's doors; he's the sponsor of "Rolling Thunder, Powered by the Missing Link," a team that's been a dynamic part of the Oregon Bike Racing Association (OBRA) for decades. Today, both James and the team face an uncertain future.
Our Goal
We're rallying the community to raise $12,000 to sustain The Missing Link Bike Shop until James can return to his life's work in June, post-recovery. This fund will help keep the shop's legacy alive, allowing it to continue serving as a hub for cyclists across Portland and Oregon.
