Hello! My name is Dana Alhaddad, I am starting this campaign on behalf of my fiancé Ahmed Rabah from the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
My name is Ahmed F. M. Rabah, a computer engineer, I work in the field of early childhood development in Gaza since 2018, I am the chairman of board of the Palestinian Early Childhood Education Programs (PECEP); it's an NGO responsible for managing 14 educational facilities all over Gaza strip. Israeli Army destroyed most of them and the rest of them are used now as refugees shelters. The conditions of the war forced us to stop our usual activities and assist our community through engaging in the relief efforts in Gaza since last October.
I live in Gaza since 1999 after my family return from Saudi Arabia and we lived together in the same house since then, it's a 5-story building located in Khan Younis Refugees' camp, this house was our shelter during the vicious war Israel launched on Gaza Strip since last October, we also hosted my brother's and my uncle's families in our house since the first week of the war after both of them fled their own houses because of the evacuation orders issued by the Israeli Army for all the residents of northern Gaza.
In November 18th 2023 I lost my niece because of an Israeli air strike on Khan Younis refugees camp, she was hit in the neck with a missile fragment from an air strike targeted the house next to my sister's family place and killed over 23 people. In December, 1st 2023, a 7-day-truce between Israel and the armed factions in Gaza has come to an end, Israel launched a deadly attack on the governorate and city of Khan Younis, which is still in action until this very moment, in last February the Israeli Army expanded its ground operation in Khan Younis and attacked the western parts of the city, and for a week, my family and I, accompanied with our hosts, were trapped inside our house and our residential area was surrounded by Israeli tanks and air strikes were being launched over many houses of my neighborhood.
In the Friday morning of February, 26th 2024 my family and I went out of our house, along with my brother's and uncle's families as well, and we walked for 14 hours, surrounded by Israeli tanks and gunfire, until we reached safety in Rafah city, and since then, we found shelter in tent that has no life necessities, I'm living there with my 79-year-old father and my 76-year-old mother and my two sisters, Manal who is a kindergarten teacher and Hanan who suffers from Systemic lupus erythematosus, an immune disease that affects different body organs including her kidneys and make her constantly in need for medical care.
Before the war, I was planning my wedding, the ceremony was intended to be in November, 11th 2023, but my planes came to an end by the beginning of the war, not only that I had to postpone the ceremony, but I also lost my new house. I built a new apartment above my family's house, and finished furnishing it with Dana - my fiancé - just weeks before the war, and we never had the chance to live in it and we will never have, since the Israeli army blasted the building and the whole neighborhood in February, 19th 2024.
Israeli Army, with a push of a button, buried all my dreams, and the safety and security of my family under the rubble of our home.
We’re starting this campaign aiming to raise 130,000 CAD to help save my family and rebuild our home, if the Israeli Army start a ground operation in Rafah, we wouldn't find any safe place in Gaza strip to shelter us, and that's why we have to evacuate to Egypt as soon as possible and stay there until the end of the war, but the Egyptian Authorities that control Rafah crossing charge the Gazans with a very high crossing fees (approx. 6850 CAD for every adult) so my family needs 27,400 CAD to cover their travel expenses, and we estimably need 100,000 to 105,000 CAD to rebuild my house and my family's house again. I want to ensure a safe passage for my family to Egypt until the end of the war, and I'll stay in Gaza strip to keep coordinating the relief efforts implemented by PECEP organization, and I'll be more relieved if I did so while my family is abroad out of the way of harm.
Please keep the hope alive, help me and My family survive.
