As many of you know, our girl Beth was recently and unexpectedly hospitalized for open heart surgery .  She was in need of a mitral valve repair, which required that her heart be stopped  and being put on a heart and lung machine. As a result, she was in the hospital for 13 days. A few days after being released, she suffered a complication, which the doctors believe was a mini stroke.  Because of the extent of the surgery as well as the complications from the mini stroke, Beth cannot drive for at least the next six weeks and will not be able to return to work for at least another 2-3 months.

In the meantime, the medical bills as well as her regular, everyday  living expenses are piling up.  Beth is independent and  is her sole source of income.  She has missed several weeks of work already and will be missing many more as she recovers. Her ability to provide for herself and all of her beloved cats is virtually impossible for now.
