Keep the fight alive!

2020 has been an impossible year for many people. Currently, our family is on a rollercoaster ride and we are asking for your help!

For those of you who do not know our family situation, our sister Carrie was given the gift of a new liver in May to help her get healthy after some complications from a previous stomach surgery that she had! Little did we know that what we thought would be the start of a healthier life would turn into a whole different journey; one that was not the uphill battle to recovery that we had hoped for.

Through all of this Carrie has been such a fighter and a rock — as she always has been as the eldest sister in our family. She fought through her most recent transplant to regain her strength and be there for her family, but then the unexplainable happened. She was not feeling herself one day and she started hallucinating. Her husband, Jim, knew something was not right and he took her to the hospital immediately. Upon arrival things were not looking positive and they continued to decline as the days went by.

She was put on a ventilator and now has a feeding tube to help her get some nutrition. Due to COVID-19 we are restricted with both financial benefits and also visitation. Carrie is currently in the ICU and is only able to have one visitor a day. This is impossibly difficult for her family of four, plus all of us who are desperately wanting our positive thoughts and prayers to be seen and heard by Carrie. We know the power of positive thought and prayer, but due to these restrictions we are left feeling defeated when denied our chance to show her our support. This is again, Carrie showing how strong she is even when she is alone fighting for her life to stay with us! She is back on the transplant list, but we are uncertain her body is going to be able to handle it. The surgeons have given us some bleak statistics and has warned us to be thinking ahead about making some difficult decisions moving forward and even in the best case scenario there is still a large financial burden being placed on our family.

Carrie has 3 beautiful children Allie (11), Jake (9), and Dalton (7) who need her more than anything! Her husband of 25 years, has been working tirelessly to help support them in these recent events and keep them calm during this uncertain time, but it is not sustainable.

We want to help lift any of those financial burdens that may come their way in the next couple months and are asking for your help. 2020 has been unfair and difficult financially, so any donation amount is welcomed and greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please share our story wherever you can and send up a prayer to help with Carrie’s recovery and to provide for this family during these difficult times.

Thank you all!
