Keep the Dream Car and Family Memory Maker Alive

Donation protected
So roughly two years ago, I was able to finally purchase my dream car--a Mitsubishi Delica. I've wanted a Japanese van since I was a kid. It's the only dream car I've ever had. As luck would have it, around the same time my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. I think most know how expensive that can be given the state of the American health care system...even worse for women. So, the dream car gained a new purpose--A way to make memories and go on adventures, you know, in case, the worst case scenario played out. A chance to go see the redwoods, the Grand Canyon, and all the other cliched "see America" attractions. To go camping, teach the kid how to drive, etc etc.
I knew purchasing such a vehicle would come with some reasonable extra costs down the road. To offset that aspect, I've done all the work I can myself when needed. But there comes a point when there's work you can't do yourself. And I just found that out the hard way. Apparently, the previous owner failed to disclose some major things that had happened to the current engine. Of course, if they had this all would be a non-issue because I could have solved it before it worsened.
It seems the delica needs a new engine or a used engine or a rebuild on the current. All of those solutions inch toward the 10k mark. Money I currently don't have because a lot of paying work I thought I had or had, disappeared with not a penny going in my pocket.
I know some might think, Well, just get a different car, and yes that would be an option, but the thing is I don't want a different car. Also, the risk of getting another used vehicle may see me in this same spot.
I'm not asking for the full cost. Honestly, I feel bad for asking for any amount. The plan is to find a "new" engine and with the help of a group of wonderful and caring fellow Delica owners, install the engine myself. The hope is to raise enough to help fund the cost of an engine and any other expenses that may arise in doing so.
I don't want to lose the Delica or the chance to take adventures and make memories with my wife and kid and dogs.
For some this may just seem like a car but for me there's a lot more tied to it.
