Today I learned that my dear friend Drake Jones's restaurant had been hit with vandalism last night. He came to open ErmaJean's doors for business this morning and found 2 of his very large storefront windows broken, appearing to be hit with a rock.

I visited the restaurant today. He was closed. He couldn't open from being so devastated that someone could do this. He is at wits end.

I do not want ErmaJeans to close and I know a lot of his customers, close friends and family do not want to see the end of this era that has blessed us with some really good food, laughter and his supportive ear when we actually come in for therapeutic cuisine, as I call it.

For those who do not know about ErmaJeans ... the restaurant is located in Olivehurst and has been around for 10 years, but the owner Drake Jones has poured into his dishes for almost two decades. He serves "southern food like our mothers and grandma's made. Fried chicken, fried ribs, fish, pork chops, smothered chicken and pork chops meatloaf, oxtails and green, cheese and Mac, fried cabbage" amongst other great dishes.
