Imagine the power of stories yet untold, waiting for a voice. I am that voice and need your help to return to Howard University.
Would you like to help a future filmmaker return to Howard University?
Hello, my name is Braylond F. Hannah. I am a proud student at Howard University, working toward my bachelor’s degree in media technology, journalism, and film with a minor in Spanish. I’ve already completed 72 credit hours in just 2 years and currently hold a 3.78 GPA. I have had to sit out this semester, and I am so close to walking across the Howard University stage with my class, the class of 2027. Howard has challenged, shaped, and given me a community where I’ve grown academically, personally, and spiritually. My dream is to return in Spring 2026 to complete my degree and step fully into my purpose as a filmmaker. I will be the first male in my family to graduate from college.
Like many students, my journey has not been easy. I come from a hardworking family that has always poured into me, and I’ve been blessed to contribute through working at Walmart, freelancing with Howard alumni, and working on musicals with ZACH Theatre North. I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring youth through an internship with the Austin Film Festival’s Young Filmmakers program. These experiences have deepened my belief that education is not just for me but for the communities I will continue serving.
I am fully committed to returning to Howard University this spring 2026 semester, and I know I can make it happen. While financial barriers and a significant balance have posed challenges, I am determined to secure the $9,000 scholarship I’ve earned. With the support of my community, I am confident that I can overcome these obstacles. Whether you choose to contribute $5, $5,000, or any amount in between, your generosity will play a crucial role in my journey back to campus. Together, we can make this a reality! Thank you for your support!
Your gift, no matter the size, brings me closer to walking across the stage and proving that young Black men can and will succeed when given the opportunity.
I am committed, serious about my education, and determined to finish strong. If you support me, you are not just investing in a student; you’re investing in the future of storytelling. My vision as a filmmaker is to create honest, raw, and inspiring documentaries that give voice to untold stories. One day, I hope to highlight the journeys of those who believed in me, as a way of paying forward the impact of your generosity.
Your support will play a crucial role in my journey back to campus; it means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Braylond F. Hannah
