Imagine for a moment the noise of Valencia.
The traffic, the rush, the uncertainty of the daily grind. Now, remember the first time you stepped through the door of your Buddhist Centre. Recall that shift in the air. The silence. The feeling that, finally, you could let go of the weight you were carrying on your shoulders.
For over 35 years, the Valencia Buddhist Centre has been that refuge. We have been the place where thousands of Valencians have learnt that it is possible to live differently: with more serenity, with warm ethics, and with a clear mind. We have seen lives transformed, anxieties calmed, and deep friendships born around the Dharma.
But today, that refuge faces its toughest test yet.
We all remember 2020. The pandemic forced us to close our physical doors, but not our hearts. We adapted, we moved to a new venue, and we reopened with the hope of continuing to serve the community. However, that journey came at an invisible cost.
Since then, we have operated in survival mode. We have cut expenses to the absolute minimum. We have stretched every euro and have relied on the unconditional support of so many of you who have pitched in. But the economic reality is stubborn: our reserve funds and our "resilience pot" are running dry.
The graph is clear and honest: at the current rate, our funds will gradually diminish until they are exhausted. If we do not change course, within six month, the Valencia Buddhist Centre could be forced to close its doors for good.
We do not want that to happen. And we know that neither do you.
These 35 years are not just history; they are the foundations of what we can still build. We are not asking for help to "plug a hole"; we are asking for help to secure the future. We want that in 10, 20, or 30 years, another person can walk through that door and find the same calm that you found.
Today, we invite you to be part of the pillar that supports this roof.
We need to recover our stability so we can stop surviving and return to living fully, dedicating our energy to what we do best: helping people to wake up.
Help us to regain calm and ensure that the Dharma continues to beat in the heart of Valencia.
