Keep the Bear Fed and Housed

My name is Arthur Ursus. I am a 38 year old disabled man living in the United States in Chesterfield, Virginia. I live with my partner, two dogs, and two cats. Three of the pets are rescues and the remaining one is a service dog in training. For the last twelve years I served the country and her people through civil and military service. I also provide a safe and secure platform for LGTBQ+ people through my small business, Bear Den Hosting. Additionally, I work with a criminal defense law firm as both IT and financial contracting services - enabling them to do their jobs and protect those who would otherwise have no representation.

In February 2025, I lost my job working for the US government. I pulled what retirement I had and have been working diligently to expand my business, support the law firm, and find another full time position. Unfortunately, in the months since I lost my job, I have been unable to find a new steady position. As a contractor, the pay from the law firm is sporadic and unpredictable - and much lower than I need to support myself, my partner, and my pets. Because of the harsh economic climate, it has reached the point where the law firm is also unable to pay me. I am now living off a very small disability stipend which falls short of covering even the basic bills to live (shelter, utilities, and food).

Over the decades I often found myself giving freely to others who were struggling, but have always been resistant to asking for help when I've been in need. Unfortunately, I no longer have that luxury - my back is against the wall and my partner and I are out of options. I've started this campaign to ask for help with making monthly payments while my partner and I continue to look for full time work while I also continue to contract with the law firm in the expectation that business will pick back up and payments will resume.
