Keep that Smile!
Needing help with oral surgery expenses! On behalf of my dear friend Patricia (Patty) O’Connor, I am encouraging your support on this GoFundMe project as she needs help with major oral surgery costs. This means relying on the kindness of friends and strangers.
But let me describe the magic of her smile. At just about 70 years old, she works part time as a barista. It is her smile that both co-workers and customers look forward to. It has always been that way with her. Patty’s smile brings light into the room and in the hearts of those around her.
It is this smile and Patty’s well-being that are in danger. Patty is in need of oral surgery work, and looking for help with medical costs. She needs some tooth extractions, implants, gum repair, lumps removed, grafting, and tooth replacements. These procedures depend on how much money she can manifest. She has teeth that break easily and has dealt with this most of her life - and now gums and osteoporosis contribute to the problem.
Patty has never asked for help before but here she is. She has been told these procedures needs to be done soon but cannot afford it as she lives on Social Security and Medicare. The basic quote from the oral surgeon and the dentist reach a total of $30,000. Any contribution will be a very real help.
As for who she is, Patty has done social service work most of her life and her creative outlet is photography. Patty says she loves to capture the beauty of everyday things that people might not see. It is finding the extraordinary in the ordinary that she seeks. She loves working with the community and supporting those around her. This gives her great joy and that smile helps people feel good.
Service work has always been part of her life. As a teenager she volunteered at the Recreation Center for the Handicapped in San Francisco, doing arts and crafts with disabled children; then volunteered in a half way house offering support where needed with teenagers; and then for almost 30 years she worked at a non-profit organization, Children’s Services, in Grass Valley as a Family Support Specialist. And so here she is at a crossroads, needing medical help and not knowing how to make it happen. She has faith though and will continue thinking positively. She was told about GoFundMe and thought she would ask for help and feels that any little bit would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you so very much.
