As we all know, there are many trans and nonbinary folks who are choosing to relocate from places with increasingly terrible laws to "safer" states. Skyler is one of these beloveds! Originally from Florida, she moved to Minnesota last January -- a place where she knew nobody -- to make a new life here.
Over the past year, Skyler has been working hard to find a job. Thanks to the generosity of a few local congregations, she has had her rent covered ($900/mo) for all of 2025. This support will end in December, and our goal is to help Skyler stay housed for two more months while she gets some support from local agencies in securing a stable job, which we are very hopeful will happen soon. We also want to raise $450 to pay off Skyler's credit card bill before it gets closed, and a few hundred dollars to support her basic living expenses.
Anything you can give will be immensely helpful! Please feel free to share in your own networks.
Skyler's Story In Her Own Words:
"My name is Skyler and I’m a 25 yo, trans woman, who struggles with autism and adhd, who came up to Minnesota from Florida due to being kicked out by my abusive father and wanting to get out of the toxic household so I wouldn’t have to be hurt anymore and where I could be freely live as my true self. I’ve been struggling to find a job, I’ve applied to well over 300+ jobs and have been through only around 20 interviews, only 1 job hired me, however I was terminated after 2 weeks for not doing a good enough job, right now I'm trying to get a full time job but I'm in need of money to pay my rent for 2 months after December, as well as paying off my credit card which I haven't been able to pay off due to my lack of income, I hope some of you can find it in your hearts to help me in my time of need. Thank you!"
