Sika is my birthright—a 32-year legacy in Leimert Park and a cultural cornerstone for our community. My father entrusted me with this business in 2016, and I held his hand until his last breath. Just weeks after his passing, we were served a 30-day notice to vacate, despite never missing a rent payment or being afforded a conversation about moving. As a single mother and entrepreneur, I’m now fighting to preserve what he built.
Your support will help us rebuild and build out our new space across the street, train new jewelers, launch a new jewelry line, and continue serving as a safe space for our community. I’m deeply grateful for your support—no amount is too small to help keep this legacy alive.
Here’s a breakdown of how the $50,000 will be used to preserve Sika’s legacy and build our future:
New Space Buildout ($25,000)
- Renovating and designing the new space across the street to reflect Sika’s unique spirit and cultural significance.
- Creating a welcoming and functional environment for our community and customers.
Jewelry Line Expansion ($10,000)
- Building out a piercing studio with modern equipment to continue servicing the community.
- Launching an expanded 14k gold jewelry collection to honor my father’s legacy and serve the evolving needs of our customers.
Hiring and Training New Jewelers ($7,500)
- Providing opportunities for emerging talent in our community by offering training in jewelry-making techniques.
Operating Costs ($5,000)
- Covering essential expenses to ensure a smooth transition and continued operations during this rebuilding phase.
Community Engagement and Outreach ($2,500)
- Hosting events and initiatives to stay connected with the community and strengthen our cultural impact in Leimert Park.
