Hi! I’m Irv from ShowDogVideoPros and we’re here today at our home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Just like most of you, we are under “stay-at-home” orders and practicing social distancing due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Typically, at this time of year we would be on the road filming National Specialties. In fact, it is currently April and we would most likely be at Purina Farms filming the Sheltie and Poodle Nationals. You would recognize us ringside with our cameras, computers, TVs, and instant playback setup. And our Van is packed, and we are ready to go! But not so this year! All of our Spring shows were cancelled, and we are staying at home.
Coronavirus Pandemic Impact
So just like everyone else, we have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. The shows we film are National events that bring hundreds of people and their dogs together for a week at a time. You just can’t do that and also practice social distancing, which is the only real tool we have at this time to fight the pandemic. However, shutting down the country has wiped out all of the shows that we were scheduled to film this Spring, and already many of our Fall shows are canceling too. If we do not work, we cannot earn money. If we have no income, we cannot pay our bills and cannot keep our business open. It’s really as simple as that!
Economic Impact
We are a classical “Mom and Pop” small business operating out of our home. We own a few cameras and computers, but no other real assets that could serve as collateral to entice banks to lend us money. We do not qualify for state unemployment insurance or federal small business support. We are so grateful to have received our personal stimulus checks, but those amounts are just not enough to replace what looks like could be an entire year with no shows to film and no income!

So, we are asking you for your support to “Keep ShowDogVideoPros Alive”! Any contribution will help us out. Your donation will be used to pay our fixed monthly business expenses and insurance to get us through to next year (2021). We pray that the coronavirus pandemic will be over, and that new medicines and vaccines will eliminate the virus threat in the future. And, YES, we are hoping that we can resume filming dog shows later this year or in 2021, as we have for the past 12 years!

Why Does This Matter So Much?
We realize that our video company serves a niche audience, but as the only company providing these services, we think it is really a National Treasure. If we are forced out of business, the dog show world will lose an invaluable resource that likely will not be easily replaced. We have filmed over 600 shows and 100 Breeds. Our movies and streaming videos catalog the history, breeding programs, and top winning dogs for each Breed, and include on-screen complete AKC information and winning placements for every dog. This comprehensive record is just not available anywhere else. Many folks do not know that we donate FREE copies of our video to the clubs and judges, and further that we do NOT charge the clubs or shows for our services!
We know that everyone is affected by this pandemic and some more than others. We are privileged to be part of the dog show community and we feel that if we can all stick together and help each other out, even with a small contribution, that we will make it through to see the sport flourish again.
