Keep Samri in School
Donation protected
Samrawit Gebremichael (Samri), a rising junior at Truman State University, a public liberal arts and sciences university located in Kirksville, Missouri, United States, is an international student from Ethiopia.
Samri came to the U.S. two years ago for her undergraduate studies. Being a first generation student, Samri had only limited information to accurately predict her future before she arrived in the U.S. Her original expectation was that she would get scholarships/funds for the rest of the years if she covered her first year expenses herself. With this hope, Samri’s parents, who always put high priority on Samri’s education sold their property to cover her first year expenses although that was a very difficult financial decision for the family. It turned out, unfortunately, Samri completed her first year without being able to secure funds for her second year. However, she was able to get support from close family members and friends around her. Thanks to those supports, she has now made it to the third year. Unfortunately, Samri is still under a severe financial pressure to pay tuitions and living expenses. Although she has some earnings from her on-campus job, the money is just enough to cover her living expenses and other most basic needs of school. Unless miracle happens, there is no way she could pay her tuition fee which is $10,000 per year. Her family is no more in a position to back her education financially. Samri has two choices now: pay the $10,000 by first week of August or leave not only the school but also the country.
Please consider donating for this cause. Your charitable contribution does the miracle; it keeps Samri in school. You are Samri’s last resort! All funds raised here will be used for the said purpose and as a donor you are very welcome to demand receipts of payment.
Thank you for your time and for your kind consideration.
