We lost Ryan David Zaklin too early, on October 18, 2025, at the young age of 51.

Ryan had an impact on so many throughout his short life. He was an educator, musician, artist, and healer. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend; most importantly, he was a devoted and remarkable father to his two sons.

To keep his light and compassion for people alive, we would like to establish a scholarship award in Ryan’s memory for other young doctors who exhibit Ryan’s devotion to and compassion in medicine at the University of Virginia, his alma mater. The minimum to establish a scholarship there is $250, 000. If we do not achieve our goal, we will be choosing an institution(s) that would be meaningful to him and represents his passion for music and healing. This would be one of his alma maters and/or an arts/music-related community program, so his legacy of love, kindness, compassion, creativity, and so much more will live on through others.
