Help Ruben further his education

I met Ruben after he and my 85 year old father became friends a few years ago while he was attending college in my hometown. Ruben is from the Dominican Republic and he played baseball at the local college until he graduated. I have spent a lot of time with Ruben and my father and I have really enjoyed getting to know him further. We have begun to think of him as the family you choose. Ruben needs some help, he didn't ask for any, but I got involved anyway. His paperwork is going to expire and the only way for him to stay in the United States, is to go to school and earn his master's degree. This change was thrown on Ruben last minute and he doesn't have the money right now to further his education. In a brief summary, I can tell you Ruben is warm, extremely intelligent, funny and most of all beyond kind and completely selfless. He is also a young man of strong faith and shares that with you. He is the type of "kid" you want working at your company, living in your community and the young man you would love to have as a son-in-law. (He is also a HUGE San Francisco Giants fan, added bonus.) For all these reasons and many more, I feel compelled to help him and start this fundraiser. Several people in the community are wanting to help and this is the quickest and easiest way to help Ruben right now. For him to attend the university here and live on campus, he needs around $30K, so I am setting that as the goal, but anything will help and get him started. He will only be allowed to work twenty hours a week once in school. (These are rules to study in the US.) Those of you who know me, know how much I hate asking for anything, or imposing, but we have a chance to really change Ruben's life, so I am getting out of my comfort zone and humbly asking for your support. Ruben doesn't know about this, I was afraid his pride might cause him to turn me down on creating a fundraiser. I appreciate your support more than I could ever express.
