Keep Ron Moving - Destroy the ACT Tumor!!
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Pam and I want to introduce you to my cousin Shelly and her family in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ron is her husband of 26 years. They have a son, Jack.
Ron is 54 years old. He has an Astrocytoma of the Cervical Thoracic area (ACT) that was found in April of 2025. Although it is considered a low-grade tumor, it is attached to his spinal cord and causing difficulties with limb numbness, coordination, and overall pain. If left alone, it will cause paralysis.
The local doctors did not specialize in this type of tumor on the spine and nervous system. They felt the risk of paralysis was too high. Ron was referred to Emory to get an expert opinion of what options are available other than “don’t touch it”.
The doctors at Emory were amazing! They offered an option of PROTON THERAPY. This is a more centralized burst to the tumor to avoid damaging the spinal cord and surrounding organs. This facility is the only one in Georgia with this capability which is significantly more effective than the local options in Tennessee.
Ron will receive a total of 28 treatments over six weeks. They are fortunate to have wonderful medical insurance to cover the majority of these treatments. However, it does not include the six weeks of living in downtown Atlanta.
This is why the family is asking for financial assistance. The room and board for the six weeks plus travel expenses each weekend for the family to visit along with the medical copays, will be approximately $7000.
Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated! Please consider helping them out so Ron can have many years to look forward to continuing with his family and friends.
Sincerely,
Pam
