Early this morning, July 1st, Romeo — a devoted father, hard worker, and longtime member of the Los Angeles community — was detained by Border Patrol outside his home in the Harvard Heights neighborhood. He was walking to his truck to head to work, as he’s done for years, when four agents kidnapped him and took him away without warning.
Romeo has lived in the United States for over 30 years. For the last 20, he’s worked as the right-hand man to my father — not just a worker, but as a long time friend.
Romeo is being forced to leave behind his wife and three children:
Erick (19)
David (11)
Esmeralda (9)
They are now left in a devastating position — without income, without answers, and facing the possibility of losing the man who has held their world together.
Legal representation is being secured. What we need now is help to cover the costs of that legal defense and to support Romeo’s family through this crisis — food, rent, school supplies, and other everyday needs while they navigate this heartbreaking uncertainty.
No child or wife should have to go to bed wondering where their father/spouse is — or if he’s coming home. No family should be left scrambling to survive after their loved one is taken from them without warning.
If you can give, please do. If you can’t, please share. Every donation counts! Let’s help fight to keep this family together.
Thank you.
