Help Red Stick Roller Derby Build Our New Home

Hi everyone, we’re Red Stick Roller Derby, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit roller derby league based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

After 10 years in the same practice space, we unexpectedly lost our home in December 2025, when the building was purchased by a new owner. The new owner wanted to raise our monthly rent from $2,800 to almost double that amount, which simply wasn’t sustainable for our league. We were forced to vacate the space over the holidays with only a few days' notice, which involved our members relocating 10 years' worth of league equipment, gear, seating and more to temporary storage.

The good news is that we were fortunate to find a new space so we can continue practicing, training, and building our derby community. The challenge is that our new rent is $3,500 per month, which is about 25% more than our previous rent. In addition, moving into a new facility comes with significant upfront costs, depleting league resources.

Why We’re Fundraising

This move isn’t just packing up and starting over; it’s building a safe, functional athletic and events facility from the ground up. Funds raised will go directly toward:

* Moving expenses, including U-Haul rental and transporting truckloads of league equipment

* Building bathrooms in our new space (estimated $21,000)

* Safety and facility upgrades to help make the space practice-ready and gameplay-ready, including padding, protective equipment, and other improvements

* Red Stick Roller Derby Juniors, Baton Rouge's youth team and fellow nonprofit, who use this space for practices and games while building confidence, strength, and teamwork
