Keep Rebecca Cheptegei's Dreams Alive
Donation protected
My name is Florence Cheptegei.
I am 39 years old, and the elder sister to Rebecca Cheptegei, a Ugandan professional marathon runner who recently represented Uganda at the just-concluded Paris Olympics and the World Championships in Budapest.
My 33-year-old sister had a disagreement with her ex-boyfriend, Dickson Ndiema, who doused her in petrol and set her on fire in her home in Trans-Nzoia County on September 3, 2024.
We rushed her to a hospital in Eldoret, but due to the severity of the burns, she died. We have buried her at our ancestral village in Bukwo District, a mountainous region in Eastern Uganda.
Rebecca had a big dream:
To educate her children, and also help to educate the community children for the socio-economic development of our region and humanity at large. She also wanted to open a marathon academy for girls in Bukwo to bring out the talented runners to the world.
However, these dreams have been postponed, but not entirely dashed, because as her elder sister, I won't allow her dreams to die.
I am reaching out to potential donors across the world to show humanity and donate to the REBECCA CHEPTEGEI EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS FOUNDATION so that we are able to:
1. Educate her two daughters, Doris and Patience.
2. Start a Marathon Camp in Bukwo District, Eastern Uganda, to keep alive the marathon dreams of so many young girls that Rebecca was planning to help bring out their talent.
3. Build decent accommodation for the two daughters of Rebecca.
There is no donation that is small. Donate to keep Rebecca's dream alive. Thank you.
