Raesha Estep is a sophmore at Spelman College from Mechanicsville, MD. She is the first person in her family to attend university and finished high school with high honors.
Her family could not afford to pay for her to attend college full-time, so it was a blessing when she got a full scholarship to Spelman from the Bill Cosby Foundation in 2015. But after Spelman discontinued a Cosby-funded professorship, the Foundation discontinued all its scholarship support to Spelman students.
Since the end of her first semester almost a year ago, Raesha and her grandmother have struggled to keep her there. With the death of her great-grandmother and increased financial demands on the family, this could be Raesha's last semester at Spelman.
Raesha has always been a dedicated scholar and a hard worker. She is the light of her grandmother's life and an inspiration to her younger brother. Please contibute so her family can send her back to Spelman in January 2017!
