PJ’s Lager House is a cherished rock and roll landmark in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. We have hosted great local and touring bands over the years, including Bernie Worrell, Timmy’s Organism, Thee Oh Sees, Whitey Morgan, Melvin Davis, Ty Segall, Doop & the Inside Outlaws, Greta Van Fleet, Protomartyr, Lee Marvin Computer Arm, Alison Lewis, and too many others to mention.
Our business and staff have been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Once again, we are shut down, with no end in sight. Moreover, before the second shutdown, the business had slowed considerably due to capacity restrictions and customers’ general sense of unease at gathering at bars. Our business model is based on bringing people together, and COVID makes that all but impossible. Currently, we are closed due to a State of Michigan order that forbids indoors dining or drinking. This shutdown is supposed to last for three weeks, but even if it is not extended, PJ’s will not have the financial wherewithal to re-open. In the absence of any additional financial relief, we are turning to you - our customers and community - for help. Help keep this iconic rock & roll bar alive. All funds will be used to pay continuing overhead costs while we are closed (taxes, utilities, and the like), and allow us to reopen and re-hire our staff when it is safe to do so.
We hope that you give out of the goodness or badness of your heart! Anything helps toward our goal, and you will have our eternal gratitude, but if you need a little incentive for a donation:
For a $10 donation you can be a member of the B-MAD club. Pull out your card and ask the person next to you to “Buy Me A Drink.” They may or may not do it, but at least you tried.
For a donation of $25 you can be a member of the I-BAR club. Pull out this card and you have to, “I”ll Buy A Round”. This card is somewhat rarely seen.
For a donation of just $50 we will supply you with a guitar pick or you can provide your own. You can write or draw anything you want on the pick. We will glue it to the present bar and place another layer epoxy over the whole bar, enshrining your pick forever in the PJ’s Lager House bar top. We are looking for 1000 “Pickers”. If we get that number, I strongly believe PJ’s will Rock again. You can donate as many times as you like. One pick for every $50.
For a donation of $1000, you can have “Preferred Placement” of your pick.
For a donation of $5,000 you can “PICK ANYPLACE” on the bar for your pick. First come, gets first placement pick for their pick.
