Keep Pizza Restaurant Dream Alive

Donation protected
I am going to start with the fundraiser first. Afterward, I want to tell you about the company and who I am. For those that don’t like a lot of reading, you can just read the fundraiser. I feel it is essential to give as much information as possible when asking for assistance.

Fundraiser:

Why this Fundraiser?
Today I decided to create this fundraiser on behalf of 8-Bit Pizza. The high costs of food, payroll, and high rent have forced us to lower our hours and work as a skeleton crew. The change over from Brooklyn to 8-Bit Pizza affected the delivery services. We lost revenue by over 50%. I have family members and my spouse working for free to keep the dream alive. I continue to work at my primary job to pay the bills and help 8-Bit Pizza. I draw no salary. My goal is for 8-Bit Pizza to sustain itself and improve as needed. Of course, I have big dreams of 8-Bit doing so much more. But for now, I want to keep our doors open and give everyone a great-tasting pizza and, eventually, that great ’80s experience.

Fundraiser Goal
My goal for this campaign is $50,000. That is divided into three sections.
1. The first and primary is to make payroll, rent, marketing, and food supplies ($25,000).
2. The second is to purchase a walk-in fridge. This will allow us to clear our fridge space and add freezers so that we can offer Vegan, which is especially important in Austin, Texas ($15,000).
3. The final is for painting, arcade machines, and posters to turn 8-Bit Pizza into that 80’s experience I want to give to everyone ($10,000).

There are so many ways that you can help. One of the ways is becoming a customer if you are in the Austin area. Please give us your feedback. Good, or bad feedback is appreciated to make our place better. The second way is by item donations. If you have any 80’s posters or items you would allow us to use, we would be grateful. The final way is by monetary donations. I don’t want to just take donations. I want to give back. I have created tier levels to show my appreciation for donations.

8-Bit Pizza:

What is Our Story?
Now let me tell you a bit about 8-Bit Pizza. In February 2019, I was having pizza with friends. I reflected on how I missed the old pizzas restaurants I went to in the 80s. The arcade machines and family atmosphere. The ’80s were a wonderful time for me as I learned all about computers and watched a lot of cartoons. One of my friends suggested that I open one. The thought excited me. That night I spent hours coming up with a name. My love of video games started with Atari. The game that I developed for submission for Nintendo was 8-Bit (it’s a computer term). The name 8-Bit Pizza was born. Unfortunately, the pandemic struck. It was not the right time. I was forced to put 8-Bit Pizza on hold.

In December 2021, my dream became a reality. A restaurant became available! But this restaurant was not in Las Vegas. It was in Austin, Texas. After researching and decision-making, I sold my house and moved to Texas. I purchased a restaurant called Brooklyn Pizzeria and Bar. For three months, I kept that name to prepare for the grand opening.

On Monday, April 14, 2022, 8-Bit Pizza was a reality. 8-Bit Pizza was officially open. . My outdoor sign lit up, and we began serving our new menu. What a proud (and stressful) moment.

What is Our Mission?
We have three main goals for 8-Bit Pizza. The first and most important is great tasing pizza. Through research, testing, and feedback from our customers, we strive to have an amazing tasting pizza. Our second goal is to give back to the community through schools, events, and possible ways. The final goal is to give that 80s experience through arcade games, posters, decorations, music, and recreation of Saturday morning cartoons for kids and adults of all ages.

What Makes 8-Bit Pizza Differ from Other Pizza Restaurants?
One simple word is “Love”. Love of our product. Love what we have accomplished so far, and what we hope to accomplish in the future. We love our customers, returning, and new customers alike. We love our food. And we love Austin, Texas.

About the Owner:

My name is Craig Hindall. I am the owner of 8-Bit Pizza. I want to tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born on June 10, 1974. I was born with cerebral palsy. At that time the doctors were convinced that I would need to be institutionalized. They explained to my mother that I would probably never see or walk. My mother and father were very young and were unprepared to take care of me. This is where my grandfather James Crates stepped in and offered to take care of me. He received help from his friend and future wife Faye Crates (We have a pizza named after her). Faye lost her husband and had 9 children to take care of. She thought nothing of adding one more. I was given no special treatment. I went to a normal school. My grandparents knew that I would not be able to do physical work (though I convinced them to allow me to work at McDonald’s). They encouraged me to use computers. I had the pleasure and honor of submitting a game I created on the Apple II to Nintendo. In my 9th grade freshmen year, I ran cross country. (Fox 11 News - Craig Hindall Cross Country) At the end of the year, my high school presented me with an award in my name that is presented as a symbol of courage. Each year this award is given out to a special student that displays courage academically or athletically.

Fast forward to 20 years, I have worked the same job for the past 13 years for a revenue cycle management company. During 7 of those years, I worked as an IT manager for an LGBT Community Center in Las Vegas. I have never been afraid of demanding work or working 2 jobs. I continue to work after losing my left eye vision and suffering from random seizures. Does this sound like someone who cannot see or walk?

Conclusion
As you have read above, I am not a quitter. Neither are the individuals who work at the restaurant. I have been given so many challenges in life. They have been tough but not impossible. I believe in 8-Bit Pizza. I would not have created this campaign if I did not believe in what I had created. 8-Bit Pizza is all about great tasting pizza, giving back to the community, and that 80’s experience, in that order! I will do anything I can to keep this dream alive, including this campaign.

Thank you so much for visiting and reading about this campaign.
