Help Keep Pets with Families in Crisis — Support Veterinary Care for a Furry Best Friend
As someone who works in social services, I’ve seen firsthand the power of unconditional love. Sometimes, it doesn’t come from a person — it comes from a pet.
Many of the children and families I work with have endured significant trauma. In the middle of that storm, a loyal dog or a gentle cat is often the one consistent, comforting presence in their lives. Pets are more than animals — they are family, emotional anchors, and healing companions.
Right now, I’m reaching out not in my role as social service worker, but as a member of this community — someone who believes no child in crisis should have to say goodbye to their furry best friend because of money.
Today, I’m asking for your help to get urgent veterinary care for a pet belonging to a family I serve. Their love is deep, but their resources are painfully limited. I’m turning first to my closest circle, asking for your support to help this pet get the care he needs.
But this isn’t just about one pet.
Once this immediate need is met, I’ll be working alongside the Monroe County Humane Association to create a fund dedicated to helping families who have complex family situations provide for their pets’ medical needs — because a pet can make all the difference in a child’s recovery and resilience.
Every dollar raised goes directly to the Monroe County Humane Association, with the long-term vision of a sustainable safety net for our most vulnerable families — and the animals they love.
Let’s be the village that stands in the gap. One pet. One family. One act of compassion at a time.
Thank you for believing in second chances — for both kids and their pets.
