Anyone who has met Peter knows one thing is true: This little dude just wants to love and be loved. On December 11th, we received the devastating news that we may not be able to love him for as long as he deserves. We are asking for help with his current and upcoming medical costs to ensure he has a healthy and happy life with us.
Doctors have determined Peter has a disease of his gastrointestinal tract. This condition causes his body to expel proteins and his abdomen to fill with fluid. A G.I. disease has a relatively good long-term prognosis and we’ve been told that he can still have a high quality of life with a prescription diet and steroids.
We are hopeful that we can extend Peter’s well-being, but treatment may require additional draining of fluid from his abdomen (doctors have already pulled out 3.6 cups of fluid, weighing in at close to 3lbs) and unforeseen diagnostics.
To date we have spent $5,500 on treatment and costs may continue to accrue. We are confident in the doctors caring for Pete and are optimistic that he has many happy and healthy years to come.
If you are able to help with Peter’s continued care, we cannot thank you enough! He’s the sweetest boy and we want to do everything it takes to keep him happy, healthy and thriving.
Chelsea & Peter
I first saw Peter in a photo in 2020. He was smiling so big with his one eye, and I knew in my heart I had to have him. Peter has been through everything with me: He was the reason I got out of bed on my worst days, and he was right by my side during the best ones. He was there for multiple moves between Hawaii and the mainland, we went home to Texas for the holidays, road tripped in the mountains and desert, and we eventually found our new home in Southern California (I picked my apartment based on what he’d like!)
And this year, we both found our forever home with Cameron and his 2 dogs, Arrow and Poppy. We spent the day at the beach park with all the dogs for our first date. As the sun set on the best day I’d had in years, I thought, “I could do this forever.” We are hoping to keep this precious member of our family healthy for as long as we can, and we greatly appreciate anything you can give to help make that happen. ♥️
We understand that holidays are near and money is tight. If you are able to contribute to help Peter, we greatly appreciate you and anything that you can give. We will be sending out Peter magnets to everyone who donates, so he can make you smile every day too.
