We are a Black Woman Owned non-profit theatre company on the Southside of Chicago and we are in our 6th year of business. Our mission is to strengthen the accessibility of theatre to the African-American/Black communities of South Shore and to be an economic and artistic resource for BIPOC artists. This past two year alone we have been able to rent out a theatre space for small community events and rehearsals for our shows. We have recently moved out our space on 79th street space in Chicago as funding has dropped due to a $20k grant that wasn't able to be renewed due to government cutting of arts programing. We want o be able to hire more artistic staff, bring more theatre arts teaching workshops and help our community by bringing more art to the Southside of Chicago, so you don't have to leave your own backyard to experience art. Plans for 2026 & Beyond:
- Overall Goal for 2026-Rehearsal and show space on rentals on the Southside ($12k for the year)
- Summer 2027-6th Annual BIPOC Play Fest (one act festival that supports the work of playwrights of color and help to produce their work)
- Winter 2027-Show TBA
- Throughout the year-workshops teaching lighting, costume, directing, stage management and acting (we aim to hire those in our workshops for future shows)
When You Donate Where Each Dollar Goes:
- $1-$50: Can help us take care of our volunteer efforts in the community, website, streaming services, plays and films for our play club, and ads
- $50-$100: Can help us take care of everything above and our stage reading playwrights, directors and actors pay, mailing supplies, rehearsal space rentals, and costumes for shows
- $100-$500: Can help us take care of everything above and our full production playwrights, crew and actors pay, legal fees, production space rentals, workshops, classes, teaching artists, props and set designing for shows
- $500 and above: Can help us take care of everything above and self tape and filming equipment, and company members salary
