Help me continue to help others….
GOFUND US!
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 15 years ago at the age of 39. Managing a chronic, progressive, incurable disease while raising a family and working was and still is exhausting. But one must pick themselves up every day and move forward! In 2014, I discovered Rock Steady Boxing , a non-contact boxing class designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s. The program helped my physical and mental state in ways I couldn’t have imagined, so in 2017, I became a certified boxing coach to help others like me. In 2024, when the director of the San Francisco Affiliate moved out of state, I took over as the new owner/director. CBS News Story Recovering from the ravages of the 2020 shutdown nearly sank our ship. Here is where you come in…. I am asking for your help in raising funds for continued education for my staff, updated/fresh equipment for the gym, and to support our scholarship fund offered to those who are not able to pay full membership.
Our Rock Steady Boxing program is dedicated to helping people with Parkinson’s maintain their strength, balance, and quality of life through a specialized fitness program. But, like many organizations, we are facing increasing challenges as we work to continue providing the best support for our fighters.
The Need for More Coaches and Staff As our program grows, so does the demand for more coaches to ensure each participant gets the personalized attention they need to stay safe and thrive. Our current team of coaches is doing incredible work, but we need more trained professionals to support our growing number of fighters. These coaches provide vital guidance and encouragement, empowering our fighters to push through their physical and emotional challenges every day.
Rising Equipment and Operational Costs Keeping our gym safe, accessible, and well-equipped is crucial to providing the best experience possible for our fighters. From maintaining the proper boxing equipment to ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable training space, the costs of operation continue to grow.
Group Activities and Community Support At Rock Steady Boxing, we believe in the power of community. Our fighters not only train together, but they also support one another, sharing stories, encouragement, and victories. Group activities and social connections are vital to building this strong network and giving each person the sense of camaraderie they need to fight through the tough days.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to meet these critical needs. Every dollar makes a significant impact on our ability to continue offering this life-changing program. Your donation—no matter the size—can help someone living with Parkinson's disease regain strength, confidence, and hope. This program is more than just boxing; it’s about fighting back against a disease that tries to take so much away. It’s about our fighters showing up each day to prove that they are strong, resilient, and capable of overcoming the challenges they face.
Please consider donating today to help us continue providing this vital service. If you’re unable to donate, you can still help by sharing this campaign with your network and spreading the word. We truly appreciate your support, and we are incredibly grateful for your belief in our mission.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of so many fighters. Together, we can keep them strong. Together, we can keep fighting!
