Hi there! My name is Tanya Kopp and I am the Executive Director for the Jacksonville Senior Wellness & Activity Center in Jacksonville, AR. We are a non profit community center for senior adults working towards keeping seniors living as independently as possible for as long as possible. We accomplish this goal in many ways including providing transportation services to and from the center, to medical appointments, grocery shopping, we provide fun and educational classes for senior adults, field trips, day time and evening activities, but one of the biggest services we provide is our meal program for our congregate members and our Home Delivered Meal program for our homebound seniors. We serve approximately 200 meals each day with both services combined. Over the past year we have struggled tremendously with our walk in freezer staying up and running, causing our organization to lose hours worth of hard work and thousands of dollars worth of food that was meant to be provided to our community. Yesterday, our freezer went out again, but we were lucky enough to have support from our community and a place to bring our prepared meals and groceries so we didnt lose them all again. We received an estimate of $20,200 to repair the freezer, but this has been an ongoing issue that I am afraid will continue to go on. We are asking for help from our community and other donors to help us raise the money to replace our freezer, evaporator, and condenser so that we can have confidence that the hard work we put in everyday will not go to waste and we can continue to feed our seniors! Anything and everything will help and we appreciate all of you!!
