Hello all,

Life decided to give me the gift of stress when the family car broke down on my birthday. Yes, my birthday gift ended up being car trouble. We were able to get it to a mechanic, and he found leaks in the coolant tank resulting from radiator and thermostat damage. This led to the car repeatedly overheating and breaking down. We were given a cost estimate of $2500. The family car has a complicated anatomy, so most of the cost comes from the labor spent disassembling and reassembling the car during repairs.

We live in an area that is super car dependent, so we can’t afford to go without one. On top of needing a car to access the basics of life around here (groceries, work, school, etc), we rely on the car for transportation to routine and emergency medical appointments for my disabled family members. With each passing day, the lack of access is taking its toll on my family, and the strain is only made worse by the heat wave we’re currently experiencing. This car is not only our sole means of getting by in my town, it has also given my family a sense of peace and reliability after we were t-boned by an intoxicated driver in 2018.

Unfortunately, our combined income is not enough for this fix and we’re in need of a miracle. While the cost estimate is steep, this car thankfully hasn’t given us very frequent issues.
