Keep Open Doors Yoga Studios in Hingham Open
Jake and I have owned Open Doors Yoga Studios in Hingham for 3 1/2 years now. Last June both of our roof-top the air conditioning units broke, it took all summer to fix them and it cost us $12,000 for which we were totally responsible to pay. In December the studio floor was flooded by human error, just a mistake, but when we shut down for the virus we found out that the entire floor had to be replaced. We just put the existing floor in two years ago and now after being closed for four months, with no studio income but still the same rent and utilities we find ourselves in a position where we either have to close the doors or replace the floor. We love our Yoga community and the idea of shutting the doors after all of the money, hard work and heartache is incredibly sad.
We are taking an incredible risk by opting to put the new floor in and open our doors by August 1.
We were given a small PPP Loan but between rent, utilities and payroll that exceeds $10,000 per month, it didn't get us far at all. We qualified and
then applied for an EIDL Loan from the SBA. We were told we were approved and even given the amount of our loan and then received an email saying we were declined. I called and spoke to a customer service rep (you cannot get through anymore by phone and no one responds to emails). I was told to submit additional documentation. We did and we were still declined (who IS getting the money?)
The idea of asking people for money actually gives me anxiety LOL. I was embarrassed to start this fund but the reason I did it was because I had a
handful of people suggest that I do this.
So here we are. The amount we chose is the amount we could not get financing for from lumber liquidators who are installing the new
floor. We understand that so many people are in a financial situation due to the virus and we don’t expect much. But if you have a few extra coins or
maybe a dollar or two and could help the studio it would be greatly appreciated.
From the bottom of our hearts, much love,
Namaste,
Susan & Jake ❤️
