Keep Oliver's Tail Wagging

For those of you following me on Instagram, you may be aware that in September 2024, my family dog, Oliver, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was only given a couple of weeks to live. After those two weeks, Oliver showed no signs of slowing down, so we took the oncology route to give him the best quality of life for as long as possible. Seven months later, he has defied all the odds. He is not only still with us, but he has been living his best life.

On April 2, 2025, we found out Oliver may have been diagnosed with the wrong type of cancer and may actually have a very rare type of cancer called pericardial mesothelioma. The only way to diagnose it would be through heart surgery, which Oliver would also need to maintain his quality of life. He has a surgical consult this upcoming Monday to see if he is a good candidate.

I know many of you may be thinking, “Why put your 10-year-old dog through all of this if you may only get a few extra good months, maybe a year at best?” Every vet involved knows that maintaining Oliver’s quality of life is my first priority. Throughout all the vet visits, tests, and procedures, Oliver has maintained his happy demeanor. He continues to demand to go run in the park on a daily basis, and every night he finishes his dinner and barks for more.

Unfortunately, Oliver’s vet bills have been expensive, and we’ve already spent tens of thousands of dollars and the majority of our savings on his previous treatments and last surgery. Any donation, no matter how big or small, would help immensely in paying for his next surgery and chemo treatments. 

I know he may seem like just a dog to most people, but to me, Oliver is my best friend. He has been at my side through the hardest times of my life, and as long as he isn’t suffering, I don’t want to give up on him when he needs me the most.
