Northbrook Judo Club has been part of the Bromley and Lewisham community for years, teaching young people confidence, respect, and resilience through the discipline of judo. Our sessions bring together children, teens, and adults — from complete beginners to national-level competitors — in a positive, family-friendly environment.
But we’re now facing a serious challenge.
Our current training mats have reached the end of their life. They move and slide during training, creating a real safety concern for our students and volunteers. Every week we have to spend time readjusting them just to make the area safe enough to continue sessions. It’s no longer sustainable — or safe.
We urgently need to replace them with modern, non-slip tatami mats that meet British Judo Association safety standards.
Why this matters
A safe mat area means fewer injuries and more confidence for our young judoka.
It allows our volunteer coaches to teach effectively, without worrying about accidents.
It keeps the club open to everyone, regardless of background — continuing our mission to be a Safe Space Judo hub for the community.
What we’re raising funds for
We need to raise £10,000 to buy and fit brand-new judo mats for our Bromley venue at Carey Scutt Scout Hall, Plaistow Lane, Bromley, Kent.
Every donation — no matter how small — gets us closer to ensuring our members have a safe, stable, and welcoming place to train.
How you can help
✅ Donate whatever you can — every £5, £10, or £20 helps.
✅ Share this page with friends, family, and local businesses.
✅ Sponsor a mat! Businesses and individuals who contribute £100 or more will be thanked on our club website and social media.
Together, we can keep judo safe, accessible, and thriving in Bromley.
Let’s give our students the secure training space they deserve.
Thank you for your support
