Help Support Nate’s 2nd battle against Cancer

My brother, Nathanial David Trinca, was born on July 16, 2006. From the very beginning, he faced significant challenges, entering the world with a congenital heart condition known as Tricuspid Atresia. This serious condition necessitated a total of four open-heart surgeries throughout his early years, each one a testament to his resilience and the strength of our family.

In November 2011, just as we were finding hope in Nate's ongoing recovery, he was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. This Grade-4 brain cancer struck with devastating timing, occurring on Thanksgiving Day when families typically gather in celebration. This diagnosis was a heavy blow. To combat the cancer, Nate underwent major surgery—the left suboccipital craniotomy—on September 24, 2012. The surgery was extensive, and much more treatment would be needed to defeat the cancer.

In 2013, we received the news we had all been hoping for: Nate had his first clear scan after the cancer diagnosis! It was a moment filled with joy and relief, marking a significant milestone in his battle against this illness.

Then, on February 14, 2024 we celebrated an incredible milestone: 11 years in remission. It was a day filled with gratitude and hope, as we reflected on how far Nate had come.

However, the fall brought unwelcome news. Nate began experiencing unusual symptoms that led to a visit to the hospital, where we received the heart-wrenching diagnosis that a tumor had formed in the same area as before. The news left us all devastated, and we struggled to comprehend this sudden setback.

Since October, Nate has bravely undergone two additional open brain surgeries in an effort to fight this new tumor. The aftermath of these surgeries has taken a toll on him, bringing countless symptoms that have introduced new challenges into his life. It's been a difficult journey, and he has had to cope with the physical and emotional impacts of these procedures.

Nate's mother, father, and stepfather have been pillars of strength throughout this entire ordeal. Nate's mother Rachel, is a full-time mom, she dedicates herself entirely to caring for Nate while also working full-time to support the family. The weight of medical bills and ongoing treatments is an added stress that weighs heavily on her. Rachel is such a genuinely caring person who continually puts others first. She has a remarkable ability to recognize when someone needs support, and she always reaches out to help in any way she can. It’s truly heartwarming to witness how deeply she cares for the well-being of everyone around her.

We are creating this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial burden Rachel is facing. Our hope is that with your support, we can provide her with the resources necessary to focus on Nate’s recovery without the overwhelming stress of managing bills and lost wages from work. Thank you for considering supporting our family during this challenging time. Your kindness means the world to us.

Much love,
Zoë Trinca
