Keep Music Alive- Bear Drury FUND

Yesterday, January 31st 2018 a very well loved, and talented local musician was so over the circumstances in his life that he had a friend post a Suicide letter to Facebook.

I've known this musician for about 7 years now and, and his cry for help hit very close to home.  Bear Drury spent the better part of my time knowing him fighting to survive physical and emotional pain as well as financial problems outside of his control.  But he always showed up, HE always had a smile on his face and a hug in his heart for the people around him.  He spent countless hours in the local 'Hot Spots' Playing music free of charge and being a wonderful friend and contributor to the community.

Bear Drury is a mountain of a force to recon with as a friend and would fiercely champion for any person that needed it in his own loving way.  He fought tirelessly, without thought for personal gain to keep the music alive and LIVE or open in the town of Snohomish as well as others so that many more people could be touched by it's joy. Bear lived and breathed MUSIC, and love... He IS the kindest and sweetest man and deserves to know that there are people out there that care about him.

I am starting this fund with the purpose to help Bear with any and all medical bills that have been piling up on him, as well as this most recent hospital stay.
Bear has always fought to stay in a place of his own and also indicated that he may currently be homeless or is facing being homeless very soon.  IT is unacceptable for someone that has done so much fighting in his life for better days to feel so beat down that he feels he must end it all.

While I do not know the precise depth or scope of Bears Financial situation, I do know that I'm tired of seeing him struggle and seeing him feel like he is of no significance!!!  It's OBVIOUS that Bear Drury has touched MANY lives over the years with his love of music and his performances!!!   PLEASE DO NOT SIT ON YOUR HANDS OR SEND PRAYERS!  STAND UP AND APPLAUD THIS WONDERFUL MUSICIAN WITH A DONATION TO HELP HIM TODAY!

This money will also go to help him get some stability and security back in his life so that he can also hopefully recover without the stress of  no home hanging over him.   This man has done so much and suffered for a very long time, it is my hope that the community will come together and help someone worthy of getting a hand up.  

A small portion of the money raised will be Donated to the local high school in Lake Stevens to the MUSIC department in Bear's name.

IF Bear does not pull through or passes then donations will be used to help settle his estate.  IF in the case that there is any money remaining from said fundraising and estate settlement then remainder of the funds will be donated to the Lake Stevens or Snohomish High School MUSIC program in Bears name.

I'm sure that Bear will read this in recovery, and that he will get through this, BUT we must all come together as a community and bolster this man up!  I'm sure that he will roll his eyes and say "Hon, I'm no musical genius... or Star... I'm just a guy who loves his music and his bass guitar."   Most likely followed up by "I never expected anything from my playing or performances... really."  Bear has always been a humble man...  
Please KNOW, that any and all help that I can get for this man WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE and I'm sure that he will be grateful for.

Dear Facebook Friends,

One of those crazy Facebook "What Will Happen To You In 2018" surveys said that I would be taking a solo trip. Well for once they were correct. In fact I have already departed.

Many of you know me in real life. Most of you only know me through Facebook. Some of you like me and some of you don't.
I have enjoyed all of the fellowship you have provided me these years.
To those who knew me as a musician, I hope that my music brought you some joy. To those in my drum groups, I hope my knowledge was helpful. To those in the other groups I hope you enjoyed my fellowship as much as I enjoyed yours.

Most of you know about my health issues. The two most influential are: I broke my spine in July 2004 and have lived in constant pain since then. I had a serious heart attack in March 2017 and the resulting double bypass has left me less than 100%.

My personal life has fallen apart due to a somewhat abusive relationship and some very bad decisions and actions on my part. As a result I am facing homelessness. I have lost most of what little personal belongs I had left and soon will lose the rest. I have been
forbidden to play music. Music is what has kept me alive.
So I have decided that I am through trying. I have lost all hope.
So dear friends I have decided to end my physical pains and mental anguish. My so called life has ended. I am done.

I know this will prohibit me from entering Heaven, but then I'm not sure that was my destination anyway.
My body is going to a medical school. Perhaps in death I can be of use to someone.

I want no funeral. No fanfare. No performances "celebrating" my life. If you didn't celebrate with me in life then it's too late to start now.
I suspect that many of you will hear a lot about me that you didn't know. Some of it will be true. Some of it won't. I was far from perfect. All I ask is that you judge me on how you knew me..
If I was at all important to you please think of me kindly. And if I wasn't... at least speak honestly of me.
