Keeping Mary & Tony Ippolito Safe & Sound
As many of my friends and family know, I am an only child I and have been the sole support for my aging, and sadly, ailing parents for many years.
Today at 93, Mom’s medical challenges include dementia, macular degeneration, polymyalgia rheumatica, hearing impairment and anxiety.
Dad, age 96, a WWII Veteran with 5 Battle Stars, requires specialized services, treatment and round-the-clock care. Cumulatively, the care and treatment costs for my parents have reached astronomical proportions. The stark reality is we have reached the point where there's simply nothing left to draw from financially.
Medical and homecare costs for my parents have piled up to the point of serious debt.
Keeping Mom safe with a home health care aide while continuing to cover her and Dad's medical bills is my goal.
I'm hoping to raise enough to cover some of their needs, keep both my parents comfortable and pay down some of their debts.
A few fast facts:
• Of the 480 waking hours per month Mom has an aide for 33 of those hours.
• Mom is alone the rest of that time and she's often afraid due to dementia-related anxiety.
• The cost per each additional aide hour is $25.00.
• Insurance didn't cover her $2,000 hearing aids and mom is 85% deaf.
• Dad's past medical and care debt exceeds $10,000.
• Mom is being sued for his outstanding medical debt.
• They've lived with me since 2003 and became truly infirm seven years ago.
Thanks to anyone who can help us. No donation is too small and I'm incredibly grateful. My parents are such good people and have always helped others so I'm hoping some of their past good deeds will inspire people to make a small donation on their behalf.
