Keep Marty & Sarah's Laugh Factory Open!
In 2015, Marty was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which he fought with grit and determination, and his signature Marty Gordon sense of humor. In the Spring of 2021, some cancer indications reappeared, and Marty was diagnosed with a second and unrelated cancer, in his throat. Overall, the prognosis is GOOD! It will be a rough summer and fall due to treatment, radiation, feeding tube, etc. But Marty is pretty healthy and the team of doctors is optimistic as this type of cancer responds extremely well to treatment. Meanwhile, Sarah was laid off in March of 2020 due to the pandemic and has been unemployed since that time; she is waiting to hear if she can go back to work at the theater in the fall, but no definite date has been set. This GoFundMe is to support Marty & Sarah through the medical and personal expenses as they journey toward healing and beat cancer for a second time!**MARTY HEALTH UPDATE** (last updated 7/22/21)
- The source of the throat cancer was the right tonsil, which was removed in June 2021 with "clear margins."
- The cancer is also currently located in one right lymph node.
- And unrelated to the throat cancer, he also has some benign carotid body tumors, located on both sides of his carotid artery, that need to be removed.
- Marty will have a second surgery soon to remove the cancerous lymph node, surrounding lymph nodes, and carotid body tumor on his right side. Surgery will be followed by 6 weeks of radiation and chemo only if necessary.
- Marty will be taking medical leave from work for approximately four months... maybe more, maybe less. He has maintained his medical insurance coverage, and he also has some sick and vacation time to cover a portion of his time away from work.**MORE ABOUT THIS FUNDRAISER**

Sarah is such an important part of Marty's life, love, happiness, and healing. Sarah and Marty embody true love as well as a passion for the arts. The pandemic was a hard year for artists and lovers. That's why we're RAISING MONEY TO SUPPORT SARAH, MARTY, AND THEIR BEAUTIFUL LIFE TOGETHER, making sure they can keep spreading their love and sharing their art! What's one tonsil worth? We don't know. But we're going to keep raising money to make sure that tonsil's medical bill is paid!
(and any other medical and life costs that arise)
Thank you all for your love and generosity.
