Keep Marcy and Robert's Family Home Safe

Hi, my name is Marcy, and my husband's name is Robert. I am starting this GoFundMe account at the urging of my close friend and sister.

My husband and I are running out of time with our mortgage lender foreclosing on us. We live in San Diego County, California. We have been in our home for 27 years, making payments steadily and doing fine... up until a year ago, when my husband's job moved overseas. He's a very qualified and experienced engineer in manufacturing/operations and program management. He has been faithfully looking for work these past 13 months (filling out literally hundreds of applications, sending off his resume, going to interviews, contacting everyone in his professional outreach) but to no avail. We've used up all our savings, liquidated all stocks, and most everything that can be sold. He's been working side jobs, and we've even had to take early Social Security benefits.

My husband wants to work; he loves his work. He is healthy and trying very hard to find gainful employment. We don't want a handout... just a hand up. I know jobs are supposed to be returning to California, but we can't seem to find anything!

We are in our early 60s, with no health issues, and we are honest, hardworking people. (I watch our grandson during the week for our son and his wife, or I'd be out looking for work as well.)

I feel terrible putting this out for all to see; it's very humbling... but I realize we need to be willing to accept help as we've helped so many others through the years. We never thought we'd be in this position, and time is running out as we only have until May 10th. I know it's a long shot, and I promise to return every dime to each donor (well, that is, if addresses and personal info are even included with each donation; I don't know, we've never done anything like this before). But if the total amount is not raised by the 10th, our time will be up, and the mortgage company will foreclose on us, and we will be forced to move and start over again somewhere else... not impossible, but heartbreaking nonetheless, leaving the only home we've ever owned.
