Keep Lyn and Her Children Safe and Housed

Hey, I'm Lyn.

I'm a mom of two, an engineer, technical writer, and educator with over 10 years of experience. I'm a current library nerd bringing the joy of reading to communities. I've taught many how to code, graced stages across the Bay Area motivating diverse audiences to join the field, and was supported by folks like Daymond John and Kevin Scott through scholarships and referrals that resulted in a career that landed me at companies like LinkedIn and DigitalOcean.

I currently live in a hotel.

I was laid off in 2023, and after thousands of applications, 15+ last-round interviews, and tons of hope, have not found gainful full-time employment since then. I attempted to start businesses to support my family but faced food and home instability and was unable to gain enough capital to make them work. I currently work two part-time jobs to make ends meet, but recently I narrowly avoided eviction and landed in a hotel until I could find a new place to stay.

I have found a safe and comfortable apartment for me and my children to land, but am facing security deposits and past-due balances that make moving in hard, and am spending money on food and housing each day in the meantime.

$1,500 would give us enough to move into our new place and get out of our hotel home. I will continue to do all I can to keep us there and work as many small jobs as I need to keep us safe.
