Update 11/26/2025:
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone,
I want to wish you a wonderful holiday with your families and loved ones! I have a lot to be grateful for and that is what I'm choosing to focus on but it isn't with out stress, and concern! I'm reaching out with an emergency request.
We received a marshal notice and are facing eviction. We owe $10,000 in back rent and need to raise these funds quickly to keep our apartment.
Despite us working, we haven't been able to catch up from the financial setback we experienced during Vanessa's period of unemployment. We've been paying what we can toward current rent, but the back rent has accumulated to a point where our landlord has taken legal action.
The marshal notice means we have a very short window to resolve this debt or we will lose our home. We're doing everything we can. I am unable to work extra hours and have cut every possible expense, but we cannot close this gap on our own in the time we have left.
This $10,000 will:
Pay our back rent in full
Stop the eviction process
Allow us to stay in our home
We have jobs and can afford our regular rent going forward. We just need help clearing this debt so we can move forward without the threat of homelessness hanging over us.
Losing our apartment would mean losing our stability, making it even harder to keep our jobs and rebuild. Let alone keep Ava and Lucius. Your support can prevent that from happening.
Any amount helps. We're grateful for anything you can contribute during this critical time.

Vanessa found another job that is taking her out of NY to work! Now we need help keeping our car running so she can get to work. We need $1,015.00 to keep from getting my car repossessed however, I am three months behind (total $3,045.00) and $804.00 to keep the car insured (includes previous month). Your support helped us stay housed during the job search. This final ask gets us to financial independence.
Original story below:
We’re reaching out to you, our kind-hearted friends, and compassionate strangers for help keeping our family together and our home safe.
David and Vanessa have been a devoted couple for over a decade, but life has thrown them some heartbreaking challenges. Vanessa lost her job twice—first early in the year and then again in November of 2023, crushing their financial stability. Five days after Thanksgiving, Vanessa suffered the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Silvia, who battled dementia for eight years. The grief, compounded by painful family disputes, has left Vanessa emotionally and financially drained. The job market has been brutally tough despite her tireless efforts—volunteering in her professional community, networking, and applying to countless jobs with updated resumes.
With unemployment support and their retirement savings gone, they are struggling to keep up. Now, two months behind rent, they are facing a demand for $3,200 to avoid eviction. Without a stable income, we're worried we might lose our home.
We humbly ask for your support to help us get back on our feet.
Your donation, no matter how small, will help cover the overdue rent, keep a roof over our heads, and give Vanessa the breathing room to continue her job search. Here’s how your kindness can make a difference:
- $3,200 will clear the overdue rent and keep us safe in our home.
- $500 will cover utilities and essentials like food and litter for the kitties.
- Any extra will help Vanessa and David rebuild their safety net.
We know times are tough for many, so even sharing our story with friends or on social media means the world. Thank you for giving us hope, from Lucius, Ava Rose, David, and Vanessa.
With gratitude,
Lucius, Ava Rose, David and Vanessa
