Don't Let Vandals Close Pet Solutions of Columbus
Donation protected
Pet Solutions of Columbus (PSOC) is a low-cost veterinary clinic located at 852 E Hudson St. PSOC offers spays/neuters/dentals, vaccines, heartworm and flea prevention, wellness appointments and general/soft-tissue surgeries. Dr. Bellamy and her vet assistant Michelle work hard to provide these needed services to pet owners that would not otherwise be able to afford them. I trust my own pets to PSOC and know first-hand how caring and dedicated the staff is.
What happened:
At 1:53 am on 12/26/20, a vandal broke an outside water spigot and the attached pipe which then leaked into a wall and flooded the entire clinic. Since this happened Christmas weekend, the floors were under water for 30 to 36 hours before it was discovered. The clinic is STILL in the process of being gutted. (Dr. Bellamy has no control over the work being done as she does not own the building and a timeline for repairs has not been given.) Except for dispensing medications to existing patients, PSOC was closed for 6 weeks while they moved all salvageable equipment and supplies to storage and arranged for a portable office pod in the parking lot. On 2/8, they reopened in the pod to provide as many services as possible in such a small space.
This is just the last in a series of vandalisms that have happened to PSOC. In 2019, Dr. Bellamy’s van windows were broken 3 times over a 3-month period by a thief, and numerous landscaping items have been stolen including potted plants, hanging plants, and stones from a retaining wall. A delivery from Chewy was also stolen.
PSOC would really like to stay in the neighborhood and provide veterinary care. At this point that is only possible if they can make improvements to the property to decrease vandalism and to increase safety, as the financial and mental toll is just too much to continue to bear. To make needed improvements, Dr. Bellamy would need to be the building owner.
Prior to this, she had been saving for the down payment but those savings were used to sustain PSOC while they were closed. Both the landlords and Dr. Bellamy have insurance, but some monies will take a while to be reimbursed and some things will not be covered.
Funds are urgently needed so that Pet Solutions of Columbus can continue to stay in business. For seventeen and a half years, PSOC has been providing affordable vet care. Dr. Bellamy chose to make less money so that she could help more animals. Now that this catastrophe has destroyed her business, she needs help from the community to continue her mission.
If you can, please share this appeal using the button on the right. If Pet Solutions closes, innumerable pets and their owners will suffer.
