✨ Help Me Stay in School at NC A&T

Hi, my name is Layana Lawrence, and I’m a proud student at North Carolina A&T State University, majoring in Criminal Justice and a dancer with the Blue and Gold Marching Machine. I just completed my freshman year, and I’m preparing to return for my sophomore year—but I need your help.

Right now, I owe over $6,000 in school fees that I must pay before I can register for classes this fall. I’ve applied for FAFSA and several scholarships, but it still wasn’t enough. I’ve also tried to secure private loans, but due to my family’s financial situation, I haven’t been approved.

My mom recently became disabled and unable to work, and we’ve been struggling financially ever since. She’s my biggest support system, but right now, there’s only so much she can do. I’m doing everything I can—but I’m running out of time.

I’ve worked hard to stay in school, balancing academics and the commitment of being part of one of the best HBCU marching bands in the country. Dancing in the band isn’t just a performance—it’s my passion, my purpose, and my way to make a better future for myself.

If I don’t come up with the funds soon, I won’t be able to register for classes, and I risk losing my place in school and in the band.
