Keep Launa on the Path to Making a Difference

Donation protected
Hi friends, my name is Launa Shaw.

If you know me, you know I’ve always been a hard worker, a dreamer, and someone who wants to make a difference. I’m a second-year student at Purdue University, double majoring in Communications and Political Science, because I want to be a voice for others—especially people with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds like mine.

Getting to Purdue was a dream come true. I worked my way here—juggling leadership roles in high school, community service, and competing at the national level. I’ve taken on jobs, applied for every scholarship I could find, and even accepted federal loans because I believe my education is worth fighting for.

But now, I’ve hit a wall I can’t climb over alone.
Unexpected costs and gaps in my financial aid mean I’m short for this semester. If I can’t cover this, I could lose my chance to keep studying and working toward my degree.

Coming from a low-income family, with a disabled parents, I’ve had to fight harder than most to get here. I’m proud of that fight. But right now, I’m asking for help—something that’s never been easy for me.

Why I’m Raising Funds:
The money raised will go straight toward:
• Covering my tuition balance
• Textbooks and required materials
• Essential living expenses so I can focus on school instead of working myself to exhaustion

Right now, I have amazing opportunities lined up—leadership positions, advocacy projects, and connections that are shaping my career in ways I’ve only dreamed of. I’m already serving in Purdue Student Government, writing press releases, leading internal communications, and working on initiatives to support students with disabilities. These are the kinds of experiences that will launch me into my future career in communications and public relations.

This isn’t just about staying in school—it’s about staying on the path to making a difference. I’ve already begun advocating for students through Purdue Student Government, writing press releases, and working on initiatives for students with disabilities. I want to keep doing this work, but I can’t if I’m forced to leave.

From My Heart:
If you can help, whether it’s $5 or $50, it truly means the world to me. If you can’t donate, sharing this with friends, family, or on social media would be an incredible help.

Every bit of support brings me one step closer to my dream—and to proving that no matter your background, you deserve the chance to succeed.

Thank you for believing in me.
