La Fonda Wants Your Help to Stay Alive in El Barrio
Donation protected
For over 30 years, La Fonda has been more than just a restaurant. It has been a living testament to Puerto Rican heritage, a sanctuary of flavors, and a home away from home for so many. Through changes in ownership and name (much like our beloved Puerto Rico itself) our mission has remained the same: to honor and preserve the culinary traditions that tell our story.
From the first bite of our Pernil to the warmth of our Pollo Guisado, every dish at La Fonda is a journey through history, a celebration of resilience, and a taste of home. We’ve served generations, brought guests to tears with flavors that evoke cherished memories, and introduced new classics that keep our culture alive.
But now, we need your help.
Due to a permit issue, we were forced to close and have been battling this setback for nearly six weeks. The toll has been devastating. With our doors shut, our business has suffered immensely, and we’ve exhausted our savings just trying to stay afloat. Now, we are on the verge of losing it all.
Your support will help us catch up on outstanding balances and keep La Fonda alive. Running an independent, culturally rich restaurant in New York City has always been a challenge, but today, the obstacles are greater than ever.
We refuse to let La Fonda become just another memory.
If you’ve ever danced to the live Salsa on a Thursday, Friday or even Saturday night, marveled at the original art on our walls, or simply found comfort in a plate of Mofongo, we ask you to stand with us now. Let’s keep the flavors, the music, and the soul of La Fonda alive.
Donate today. Share our story. Help us fight for a place that has always been about more than just food; it’s about culture, community, and love.
