Keep Kuku’s Beauty Supply Open

My name is Kuku, and I am the owner of Kuku’s Beauty Supply located at 7327 Georgia Avenue NW, Washington DC. Kuku’s Beauty Supply is a registered and standard hair, beauty, cosmetics & fragrance business that serves a diverse community in Washington, DC. We are launching a “Keep Kuku’s Beauty Supply Open” fundraiser today with a goal of reaching $100,000. With your help, we will be able to cover back rent, bills, and most importantly marketing to reach the entire community. As a valued local business in the community, we are writing to ask for your donation of any amount and your support to help us accomplish our goal.

Since the opening of Kuku’s Beauty Supply, we have provided transgender women and women of color with free hair and makeovers from local shelters. We also provide community leaders space for meetings free of charge and we have mentored local high school girls on the basics of entrepreneurship to encourage more women-owned businesses. Kuku’s Beauty Supply provides opportunities for burgeoning small business owners to operate as “pop-up shops,” to increase entrepreneurial awareness. It is our goal to continue to be a valued member of the community in which the store operates by giving back in various ways.

Like most small businesses, my business was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We experienced a loss of revenue during the government closure as we were considered a non-essential business. Being a community member, people enjoy shopping at my store, and we have developed a lot of important relationships benefiting people in need. #BlackBusinessGrant
