Hello everyone, my name is Liz, and we never thought we would be in a position to have to ask for this, but we are reaching out on behalf of our sweet dog, Koda. About 3 weeks ago, he started having a lot of trouble walking and started knuckling his paws. It was believed to be an injury, so he was put on prednisone to help with inflammation. After a few days, things took a turn for the worse, and Koda started having a lot of accidents in the house and started losing weight rapidly. We then discovered this medication caused Koda to become diabetic and now requires insulin twice a day to control his blood sugar, which we are still struggling to do. Over the last couple of days, he has stopped eating and drinking altogether, which only makes his condition even worse.

On top of that, our vet now thinks he has degenerative myelopathy, which is an incurable, progressive neurological disease that affects his mobility and eventually leads to paralysis, but we can’t confirm it without further testing.

It’s been a very stressful and emotional time for our family, but we want to do everything we can for our baby. We have had several vet visits, tests, treatments, and medications in such a short time that all the expenses are starting to become very overwhelming. If you’re able to donate, share, or even just keep Koda in your thoughts, it would mean more than I can express. Any little bit will allow us to continue fighting for Koda and will give him a chance to stay by our side longer.
