Keep Kimber Safe and Secure During Recovery

My name is Kimber Martinez and I am a middle school teacher. I absolutely love my career, teaching. In January, I was injured at work by a flying projectile. The incident left me with a concussion/head injury. This injury has left me in financial ruin because I was not able to work for at least two weeks. Currently, I can only work part time due to the head injury needing time to heal. It takes about 90 days to get a workman’s compensation to go into effect. The workman comp insurance also denied getting a CT scan! That process needs to change for ALL. The injured worker is treated like a villain or criminal.
Because I’ve lost a month’s wages, I cannot pay my rent and I received an eviction notice. I will be homeless by the end of the month. I know I’m not the first injured worker to experience the consequences of being hurt on the job. I have already exhausted all options to find assistance only to be rejected. There is no help for the injured workers. No, I do not have any family that lives in my area nor family that can assist in this economy. Breaking my contract will cost me $2,000 and I’m not intending to do so.
Please help me survive and remain in my apartment so I can keep my career in tact as well as have the means to recover from the head injury. Any amount is truly appreciated in this rough time. Your generosity is vastly welcome.
