Help Khasi Finish His Masters Degree

Why The GoFundMe

Khasi-Marc Jamieson, born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, is a second year Masters student at New York University’s Center for Data Science. After graduation in May 2021, Khasi intends to use his degree to advance the music industry and/or education technology.

In order to cross this finish line, Khasi has to fund his second and final year of Grad School. As an international student, he has exhausted the limited funding options and still needs $40,000 to complete his program. The money raised from this GoFundMe will go directly to paying his NYU tuition, which is due on September 15. This is critical for him to maintain his student visa and live in the US. Any additional funds raised will go towards materials for school and living expenses.

Khasi is also a talented singer, producer, vocalist, DJ, and all around multifaceted musician. Raising this tuition will keep his dream alive and allow him to continue to empower the world through data and art.

Why Khasi is a Good Investment

After finishing his studies, Khasi plans to continue applying his skills to work in either social good or music analytics while still producing and performing great music. Khasi is someone with an unparalleled work ethic and care for others. When he commits to something he puts his entire self into it. Whether that be his studies, music or supporting his friends.

You may be wondering why he isn’t writing this description himself. Khasi is not one to ask for charity or help unless he absolutely needs it. He is a worker and a fighter, and he truly never wants to burden anyone or feel they need to support him. That’s why we, his friends and loved ones, are coming together to ask that you help us by helping him. We need him here with us just as much if not more than he needs to be here. And we are so confident in his ability to succeed that we are putting everything we are able to into this campaign. We hope you will too.

More about Khasi

In his under graduate study at Vassar College Khasi was heavily involved in both his academic and campus life. He graduated with a double major in mathematics and economics while also holding roles in student government, sitting on Vassar’s event planning committee, playing ultimate frisbee and pioneering the school’s DJ and music production collective. In his four years at Vassar Khasi was able to touch the lives of countless students and faculty. Everything he did was for the betterment of his friends and his community.

Following undergrad and before starting at NYU Khasi taught middle school for three years in New York City. He is always vocal about making contributions to the communities he has lived in and thus was a founding member of Success Academy Myrtle Middle School where he taught 5th grade math and served as a homeroom teacher and adviser to over 50 students. He mentored both students and teachers.

Even during his graduate career, he has committed to serving underrepresented populations through his research into the development of racial biases in children and the Conceptual Development and Social Cognitive Lab at NYU
