Keep Keeper Alive and Thriving!

When I opened Keeper my plan was to be a neighborhood cafe. I wanted to serve my neighbors and grow in a community, and even in our unique shared space setup in industrial SE I feel like we've done just that!

Facing Covid as a barely new business was terribly distressing, but was absolutely the turning point in my opinion for how committed I was going to be this still infant business.
I wasn’t going to give up on my business or all the relationships I had built, so we rolled with the punches, drove around town bringing you tasty treats, making lots of mistakes, learning, growing and reopening our cafe! And I am so glad we did. We have grown dramatically in a few months and best of all I feel like the result is getting to know each of you and doing what we love, making coffee and pastries to make the world just a tiny bit brighter.
But onto the good stuff, right?
It's time for Keeper to grow!

I was faced with the big decision of how to run a cafe with super limited seating in the winter during COVID. As well as the constant struggle of supply and demand of baking everything offsite at a commissary kitchen.
So the reality is... its time for a new space... and the best news is, I FOUND ONE!
It is a space that will provide us room to grow for years to come. A space for all of us to safely sit cozied up with our coffees all winter long and sit outside all summer long. A space big enough to bring your family and your little ones. A space where we can make you a warm breakfast and hopefully never run out of hand pies again… because **drum roll please** this cafe will have a fully functioning commercial kitchen!
But we need your help to make this happen! Our new shop is about 1500sq ft of cafe and 1500sq ft of kitchen space. We will have a parking lot (yes, seriously!), street parking and outdoor seating for those sunny days! So we are raising $40,000 to outfit our new kitchen so we can streamline our process and keep that pastry case stocked all day long!
The kitchen will be such an integral part of serving you and our community. Our plan is to share our kitchen young budding bakers and to regularly host pastry classes .
So many of you have messaged me over the last year about starting a small business or hosting pop ups and now, we can do it! The cafe has ample room for us to host educational talks, to make space and lift up our BIPOC, queer, and trans community, to offer no cost small business education, to be a resource in whatever way we can.
But we need your help!
So for the month of October we are going to do everything little thing we can to make this possible. I know if we all chip away at it, we can do it!!
If you can join us by donating literally anything, $5 $10 $200 $5million dollars, it will absolutely help meet our goal!
We can’t wait to serve you in our very own space.
See you soon, friends.
